Why We Give

Generosity toward others and the Church is a sign of a deep relationship with God.  Stewardship is about recognizing that all that we have is a gift from God.  Sharing the gift of our treasure is a basic tenet of our faith.

Giving Draws Us Closer to God
When you invest in what matters to God, you strengthen your relationship with Him.

Giving Grows Our Character
Giving helps us to better reflect the character of God.  He has given us everything — not even withholding his own Son!  God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son.

Giving Expresses Love for People
Our giving makes it possible for people to hear the Good News of God's love for them.  It also helps us provide critical care to the poor and those in need through our Christian Service partners.

How is God Calling You?

God provides abundant blessings to each of us on a daily basis and He is never outdone in His generosity!  We ask each member of our church family to examine how you are stewarding the resources that you have been blessed with.  This examination is part of what it means to be a disciple of Christ.  We are each called to allow God to be the Lord of all aspects of our life, including our finances and charitable giving.  Sometimes, He may be calling us to challenge ourselves in how we are supporting the Church financially.

Prayer for our Benefactors

Good and Gracious God,

We thank you for the gift of our benefactors.  Their time encourages us and their gifts enable us t fulfill the ministries you have entrusted to us.  We pray for their personal intentions, knowing that you have a good plan for each of their lives.  We ask that the benefactor of Our Lady of Sorrows will one day behold your face in Your Heavenly Kingdom.

Amen
