Committees

Art and Environment

The Art & Environment committee is a standing committee of the Worship Commission. The purpose of the Art and Environment committee is to create an atmosphere within the liturgical space that invites and inspires the assembly to full and conscious participation in the paschal mystery in keeping with the changing seasons of the liturgical year.  The committee is always open to new members and new ideas.  The committee meets once a week to assess the needs of the worship space.  For more information please contact Carla Amori at [email protected] or Laura Smentowski at [email protected]

Evangelization

The purpose of the Evangelization committee is to create a parish culture in which Jesus Christ is known and proclaimed to others.  The committee is constantly assessing ways for the parish to inspire faith in others, equip and send parishioners on mission in their homes, neighborhoods and places of work.  The committee is always open to new members and new ideas.  The committee meets once a month to plan evangelistic and community events and once a month for our own formation and training in ways to best evangelize.  For more information please contact Mike Chamberland [email protected] or Julie Szymkowski [email protected].

Parish Life

The Parish Life Commission (PLC) comprises representatives from the social, cultural and athletic groups, organizations and committees that function in Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. The PLC exists to order all parish social, cultural and athletic activity to the theology of mission and stewardship inherent in the commission of Jesus Christ to his church: "Remain in me, as I remain in you.  Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me.   I am the vine, you are the branches.  Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing." (John 15:4-5)

Mission Statement
The mission of the Parish Life and Formation Commission is to create, strengthen and support the religious formation programs, the social, athletic and cultural groups of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish.  This is the Christian's call to celebrate Christ's presence among us as we proclaim the good news of the Gospel in all parish activity.
